AMERICAN BUFFALO

I am coveting this buffalo print so very badly.  I originally thought it was a painting, but it's actually a photograph by Sharon Montrose.  Her style of animal photography is just so unique.  You can (and should) check out the rest of her amazing photographs in her shop, The Animal Print Shop.  

Unfortunately, the American Buffalo print above is a bit north of our budget. So, I've been obsessed with finding something similar (unfortunately nothing compares once you've fallen in love). Below are a few I've found...  Which one is your favorite?

SOCIETY 6: KRIS TATE

I used to think Society 6 was the name of Urban Outfitters Print Shop.  I was wrong.  Society 6 is an "International artist community representing more than 70 countries worldwide."  Where my confusion came in?  Urban has a collaboration with Society 6; they basically sort the thousands of prints to bring you a curated selection of their favorites - available on the Urban website.  You can browse all of them on the Society 6 website, or if you have a hard time making decisions - visit UO Print Shop since they've narrowed it down / done the work for you.  Once you've found a design, you can order an art print, an iphone case, a t-shirt, a tote, etc.  My iPhone case is a Society 6 print, and I love it.

Whew!  Now that I'm done rambling...  One of my favorite artists on the Society 6 page right now is Kris Tate.  {I came across her images when I was trying to find a buffalo or stag print for above our bed.}  I love the way she mixes nature and wild animals with neon and graphic patterns.  The juxtaposition is really unique.

Maris Redondo does the most beautiful paintings inspired by nature. 

My personal favorites are her paintings of feathers. 

She sells them in her Etsy shop - River Luna, and even the packaging is beautiful.

CURRENTLY COVETING {No. 6}

Those of you who know me well, may be surprised to see a pink blazer in this collection. I do not own a single item of truly pink clothing. I think I have a subconscious aversion to the color because when I was little everything was pale pink; even the walls of my bedroom. So, I'm not sure what my deal is lately because hot-pink items keep catching my eye. This blazer is available in eight colors {I talked about it here a few weeks ago} and the hot pink and the rusty-orange are my favorites. Question: Am I going against my very being... my "not a pink girl" self-proclaimed status... if a few hot-pink items make their way into my closet?

WALL ART

Lately I've become a bit obsessed with prints. 

We need a few pieces of art for our apartment. 

The walls are a bit sad. 

These first four prints were found via pinterest... where I find most of my inspiration these days.

I can't decide which one I need, so I might need all three.

Urban Outfitters Print Shop has amazing choices. 

This first one will hopefully be occupying a wall in our living room soon.

My first print purchase was this one below {for the Mr.'s birthday}.

The Mr. and I love Ryan Adams. 

In fact, we are going to his concert Saturday night!

The lyrics on this print are from one of my personal favorite songs, 

and it was only fitting since we celebrated our birthdays in NYC.

BEFORE I DIE...

I stumbled upon this street art installation by Candy Chang on Free People's blog. It stuck with me, so I wanted to share it here.

"It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget what really matters to you. With help from friends and neighbors, Candy turned the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans into a giant chalkboard where residents can write on the wall and share what is important to them. Before I Die is an interactive public art project that transforms neglected spaces into a constructive places where we can discover the hopes and dreams of the people around us. It is also a reminder to ourselves of what is most important to us." {from this site}

These chalk board walls have expanded to other cities, including: Amsterdam, Portsmouth, Querétaro, Almaty, San Diego, Lisbon, and Brooklyn. I wonder if my friends in Brooklyn have seen this?

See below {5th line down in the middle} where someone wrote "hug a sloth"... If I didn't know better I would think my Mr. wrote that. He has always said his favorite animal {besides our cat} is a baby sloth. No joke.

 

It's a little hard for me to think this big {"before I die" big}. So, I think I'll stick to this year. I don't really believe in making New Year's resolutions. I find that I always break them... 

I'll see you at the gym? Yeah, right! Instead I am planning {soon} to make a list of things I would like to accomplish in 2012. Just a little list of goals and things I would like to do.

WOMAN OF FEW WORDS

It somehow feels earlier when you are waking up for work, despite the fact I woke up around the same time the last three days. As my alarm went off this morning, it felt like the little bubble around us was bursting. Most of you had to head back to work yesterday, and I am sure some of you felt the same way. Yes?

I took an extra day off yesterday, for which I am so thankful, since I had to work Christmas Eve day. Bailey was so happy to see us when we arrived home. I have a little video to post later. 

Since I am feeling like a woman of few words today, I thought I would share these... I love these sweet little signs with their lovely little messages. I saw them at World Market when I was Christmas Shopping. Which one is your favorite? I am leaning toward the second one.
